(02:21:46) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Let's keep in mind that the Mohawk Nation was a member of the Iroquois Six-Nation Confederacy. And the United States Government is based upon this model of government!

(02:22:49) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Mohawk Prophecy of the Seventh Generation
(02:22:49) (Host-WalksInSpirit) According to the prophecy of the Seventh Generation, seven generations after contact with the Europeans the Onkwehonwe would see the day when the elm trees would die. The prophecy said that strange animals would be born deformed and without the proper limbs. Huge stone monsters would tear open the face of the earth.
(02:23:16) (Host-WalksInSpirit) The rivers would burn. The air would burn the eyes of man. According to the prophecy of the Seventh Generation the Onkwehonwe would see the time when the birds would fall from the sky. The fish would die in the water. And man would grow ashamed of the way that he had treated his Mother and Provider, the Earth.
(02:24:00) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Deganawidah: The Two Serpents
(02:24:00) (Host-WalksInSpirit) American Prophecies by Scott Peterson
(02:24:00) (Host-WalksInSpirit) When Deganawidah was leaving the Indians in the Bay of Quinte in Ontario, he told the Indian people that they would face a time of great suffering. They would distrust their leaders and the principles of peace of the League, and a great white serpent was to come upon the Iroquois, and that for a time it would intermingle with the Indian serpent as a friend.
(02:24:47) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Deganawidah is pronounced (dee-gaa-nah-wee-dah)
(02:25:01) (Host-WalksInSpirit) This serpent would in time become so powerful that it would attempt to destroy the Indian, and the serpent is described as choking the life's blood out of the Indian people.
(02:25:29) (merri) they sure got that right!
(02:25:33) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Deganawidah told the Indians that they would be in such a terrible state at this point that all hope would seem to be lost, and he told them that when things looked their darkest a red serpent would come from the north and approach the white serpent, which would be terrified, and upon seeing the red serpent he would release the Indian, who would fall to the ground almost like a helpless child, and the white serpent would turn all its attention to the red serpent. The bewilderment would cause the white serpent to accept the red one momentarily.
(02:25:54) (Host-WalksInSpirit) The bewilderment would cause the white serpent to accept the red one momentarily.
(02:26:27) (merri) cutoff after turn all its attent
(02:26:37) (Host-WalksInSpirit) turn all its attention to the red serpent. The bewilderment would cause the white serpent to accept the red one momentarily.
(02:26:43) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Thanks, Merri!
(02:26:53) (Host-WalksInSpirit) The white serpent would be stunned and take part of the red serpent and accept him. Then there is a heated argument and a fight. And then the Indian revives and crawls toward the land of the hilly country, and then he would assemble his people together, and they would renew their faith and the principles of peace that Deganawidah had established.
(02:27:36) (Host-WalksInSpirit) There would at the same time exist among the Indians a great love and forgiveness for his brother, and in this gathering would come streams from all over -- not only the Iroquois but from all over -- and they would gather in this hilly country, and they would renew their friendship. And Deganawidah said they would remain neutral in this fight between the white and red serpents.
(02:28:05) (Host-WalksInSpirit) At the time they were watching the two serpents licked in this battle, a great message would come to them, which would make them ever so humble, and when they become that humble, they will be waiting for a young leader, an Indian boy, possibly in his teens, who would be a choice seer.
(02:28:31) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Nobody knows who he is or where he comes from, but he will be given great power, and would be heard by thousands, and he would give them the guidance and the hope to refrain from going back to their land and he would be the accepted leader.
(02:29:10) (Host-WalksInSpirit) And Deganawidah said that they will gather in the land of the hilly country, beneath the branches of an elm tree, and they should burn tobacco and call upon Deganawidah by name when facing the darkest hours, and he will return.
(02:29:43) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Deganawidah said that as the choice seer speaks to the Indians that number as the blades of grass, and he would be heard by all at the same time, and as the Indians are gathered watching the fight, they notice from the south a black serpent coming from the sea, and he is described as dripping with salt water, and as he stands there, he rests for a spell to get his breath, all the time watching to the north to the land where the white and red serpents are fighting.
(02:30:11) (Host-WalksInSpirit) to the north to the land where the white and red serpents are fighting.
(02:31:21) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Deganawidah said that the battle between the white and the red serpents opened very slowly but would then become so violent that the mountains would crack and the rivers would boil and the fish would turn up on their bellies. He said that there would be no leaves on the trees in that area.
(02:31:45) (Host-WalksInSpirit) There would be no grass, and that strange bugs and beetles would crawl from the ground and attack both serpents, and he said that a great heat would cause the stench of death to sicken both serpents.
(02:32:17) (Host-WalksInSpirit) And then, as the boy seer is watching this fight, the red serpent reaches around the back of the white serpent and pulls from him a hair which is carried toward the south by a great wind into the waiting hands of the black serpent, and as the black serpent studies this hair, it suddenly turns into a woman, a white woman who tells him things that he knows to be true but he wants to hear them again.
(02:32:58) (Host-WalksInSpirit) When this white woman finishes telling these things, he takes her and gently places her on a rock with great love and respect, and then he becomes infuriated at what he has heard, so he makes a beeline for the north, and he enters the battle between the red and white serpents with such speed and anger that he defeats the two serpents, who have already been battle weary.
(02:33:29) (Host-WalksInSpirit) When he finishes, he stand on the chest of the white serpent, and he boasts and puts his chest out like he¹s the conqueror, and he looks for another serpent to conquer.
(02:33:48) (Host-WalksInSpirit) He looks to the land of the hilly country and then sees the Indian standing with his arms folded and looking ever so noble that he knows that this Indian is not the one to fight.
(02:34:07) (Host-WalksInSpirit) The next direction that he will face will be eastward and at that time he will be momentarily blinded by a light that is many times brighter than the sun.
(02:34:28) (Host-WalksInSpirit) The light will be coming from the east to the west over the water, and when the black serpent regains his sight, he becomes terrified and makes a beeline for the sea.
(02:34:48) (Host-WalksInSpirit) He dips into the sea and swims away in a southerly direction, and shall never again be seen by the Indians.
(02:35:05) (Host-WalksInSpirit) The white serpent revives, and he too sees the light, and he makes a feeble attempt to gather himself and go toward that light.
(02:35:30) (Host-WalksInSpirit) A portion of the white serpent refuses to remain but instead makes its way toward the land of the hilly country, and there he will join the Indian People with a great love like that of a lost brother.
(02:35:54) (Host-WalksInSpirit) The rest of the white serpent would go to the sea and dip into the sea and would be lost out of sight for a spell. Then suddenly the white serpent would appear again on the top of the water and he would be slowly swimming toward the light. Deganawidah said that the white serpent would never again be troublesome to the Indian People.
(02:36:26) (Host-WalksInSpirit) The red serpent would revive and he would shiver with great fear when he sees that light. He would crawl to the north and leave a bloody, shaky trail northward, and he would never be seen again by the Indians. Deganawidah said as this light approaches that he would be that light, and he would return to his Indian People, and when he returns, the Indian People would be a greater nation than they had ever been before.
(02:38:20) (Host-WalksInSpirit) This reminds me of that Bible verse that says we battle not fleshagainst flesh. But in spirit against spirit and pricipalitiy against principalitiy. I'm paraphrasing here. :-)
(02:40:06) (Qrious) So.. Deganawida is the Red Serpent.. who would be the white and black?
(02:40:14) (Blu-Host) NO
(02:40:24) (Blu-Host) Degnawida is not a serpent
(02:40:40) (Qrious) o.k.. he's gonna come back like the red?
(02:40:55) (Qrious) Then I will re-read it.
(02:41:19) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Naw, I don't think Deganiwida was the serpent cause of this passage:
(02:41:22) (Host-WalksInSpirit) The red serpent would revive and he would shiver with great fear when he sees that light. He would crawl to the north and leave a bloody, shaky trail northward, and he would never be seen again by the Indians. Deganawidah said as this light approaches that he would be that light, and he would return to his Indian People, and when he returns, the Indian People would be a greater nation than they had ever been before.
(02:41:32) (Qrious) Oh.. o.k.. he is the LIght.. o.k.
(02:41:48) (ron) sees that light
(02:42:11) (Host-WalksInSpirit) It was when the red serpet retreated, bloody and shaken, that Deganiwida could be able to return to His people.
(02:42:11) (ron) great understanding, perhaps
(02:42:20) (merri) who do the serpents represent WIS
(02:42:50) (Host-WalksInSpirit) I think it's more of a *what*, Merri.
(02:43:09) (merri) ok what?
(02:43:17) (Atom) a race of people maybe ?
(02:43:18) (Host-WalksInSpirit) I believe it's a consciousness or spirit.
(02:43:21) (Blu-Host) It looks to me like they represent spiritual forces manefesting on earth
(02:43:30) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Right.
(02:43:49) (Qrious) well .. earlier it sounded like manufacturing bussiness would polute the land and inhabitants.
(02:43:58) (Blu-Host) They do not necessarily represent people, but events
(02:44:02) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Attitudes of the times, perhaps?
(02:44:17) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Yep, Qrious.
(02:44:21) (Blu-Host) the black serpent sure sounded like huricanes to me
(02:44:25) (Qrious) like mercury in the water.. sort of thing.
(02:44:54) (Host-WalksInSpirit) And when the "black serpent with sea water" appeared, the first thing that hit me was oil.
(02:45:02) (Blu-Host) ths could take some real study, because I think we would have to understand the symbolism of these people to fully understand this
(02:45:20) (Qrious) same here.. the oil conglomerate.
(02:45:33) (Blu-Host) could thought
(02:46:15) (Blu-Host) we should look at the arc type symbols of Jung too
(02:46:20) (Qrious) but I don't see them helping the people.. so it don't really fit.
(02:46:43) (Qrious) Archetype.. gotcha .
(02:46:51) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Well, they didn't. They fought the white serpent.
(02:47:14) (Host-WalksInSpirit) But when they looked that the red serpent, they didn't see any cause to fight, so they left.
(02:47:28) (Host-WalksInSpirit) And....
(02:47:34) (Qrious) but what truth could the black agree with from the hair of the white serpent.(woman)? That throws me.
(02:48:22) (ron) understanding and mother earth, perhaps
(02:48:24) (Host-WalksInSpirit) It was when they caught wind of what the white serpent was doing (i.e. the hair that turned into a white woman who told their secrets) that they started to fight the white serpent.
(02:49:00) (ron) but its a white woman
(02:49:16) (ron) hair, the thinking process
(02:49:32) (Blu-Host) female energy is intuitive?
(02:49:45) (Blu-Host) converse in the negative would be gossip ? etc?
(02:49:52) (merri) the white woman was treated gently and with respect
(02:50:04) (merri) what would this symbolize?
(02:50:04) (Blu-Host) from the black serpent
(02:50:10) (ron) woman has secrets...wisdom
(02:50:25) (Blu-Host) power
(02:50:26) (ron) white...thus are good and helpful
(02:51:09) (ron) wind as in communication
(02:51:27) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Good point about the wind, Ron! And right-on.
(02:51:41) (Blu-Host) we have water earth and fire elements here
(02:52:02) (Blu-Host) three of the lower chakras
(02:52:05) (Qrious) Well.. there is the telling of the White Buffalo Calf Woman... could that be her?
(02:52:37) (diane) as a late-comer, I humbly submit woman as fertility symbol
(02:53:06) (ron) secret knowledge is in this woman...treat her with respect
(02:53:15) (Blu-Host) she could represent the heart chakra, the 4th
(02:53:15) (diane) mother image?
(02:53:19) (Blu-Host) wtich is air
(02:53:42) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Hmmmm.... good thought too, Qrious. If you'll look at all the major teachings of American Indian people, you'll see untold numerous examples of women treated with extreme respect. It's just our way. We believe the woman to be Sacred.
(02:53:42) (Blu-Host) This could be all symbols of the 4 lower chakras
(02:54:17) (vjh) Wish you'd tell some people I've been around that. Especially my ex-husband. He basically hates women.
(02:54:18) (Anonmouse) white , black and red are the colors of the nation atlantis / the red man origin was atlantis too for those here that do not know this.
(02:54:30) (Blu-Host) air symbolizes mental activity
(02:54:41) (ron) perhaps, as the element of water...feminine, emotion, receptive like mother earth
(02:54:49) (Qrious) This book about the return of the Bird Tribes talks about her being the Spirit of Truth.. Mother of the Old Ones... its just a thought.
(02:54:52) (vjh) I've found that to be true when anyone has the moon conjunct the south node.
(02:54:54) (Host-WalksInSpirit) If you wanna get on my bad side in a hurry, disrepsect my Lady. Or any lady in my presence. ;-)
(02:56:22) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Ok, did you know...
(02:56:41) (Host-WalksInSpirit) That the Mohawks were also known as the Anisinabe?
(02:57:00) (ky-mike) traslation
(02:57:23) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Sorry, Mike. I don't know the translation for either. :-(
(02:57:30) (diane) never knew that WIS
(02:57:31) (merri) who were the Anisinabe?
(02:57:42) (ky-mike) k
(02:57:56) (Host-WalksInSpirit) I'm almost sure it's something along the line of "The People" or "The Principle people."
(02:57:58) (ron) "hawks aplenty"
(02:58:09) (Host-WalksInSpirit) The Mohawks, Merri.
(02:58:27) (diane) really ron?
(02:58:40) (ron) :)
(02:58:41) (Host-WalksInSpirit) You'll find that other names were given to one single tribe by other tribes.
(02:58:59) (Host-WalksInSpirit) For example, My People call ourselves Numunu.
(02:59:09) (Host-WalksInSpirit) But, the Paiutes called us Comanches.
(02:59:29) (Host-WalksInSpirit) And the Lakota Sioux called us Padouca.
(02:59:48) (merri) confusing!
(03:00:08) (Host-WalksInSpirit) The Paiute word "Comanche" means "Anyone who wants to fight me ALL the time"
(03:00:10) (Host-WalksInSpirit) lol
(03:01:27) (Host-WalksInSpirit) OK, let's continue on with the next section of prophecies...
(03:01:36) (Blu-Host) ok from the archetypes chapter:Serpent or snake; the Kundalini, the creative force that flows through the endocrine centers in figure eights, raising one to s[piritual awareness. It represents both good and evil. Because a snake sheds many skins it is the oldest symbol of reincarnation and eternal life. It is the oldest Christ spirit symbol
(03:02:30) (Lee) I very much like my Kundalini.
(03:03:01) (Host-WalksInSpirit) The Seven Fires of the Anisinabe
(03:03:01) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Seven prophets came to Anishinabe at a time when the people were living a full and peaceful life on the Northeastern coast of North America. These prophets left the people with seven predictions of what the future would bring.
(03:03:22) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Each of the prophecies was called a fire and each fire referred to a particular era of time that would come in the future. Thus, the teachings of the seven prophets are now called the Seven Fires.
(03:04:10) (diane) like the seven churches in Revelations
(03:04:28) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Wow, Diane! I never thought of that! Great point!
(03:04:48) (diane) ty
(03:04:55) (Host-WalksInSpirit) The first prophet said to the people, "In the time of the First Fire, the Anishinabe nation will rise up and follow the sacred shell of the Midewiwin Lodge. The Midewiwin Lodge will serve as a rallying point for the people and its traditional ways will be the source of much strength. The Sacred Megis will lead the way to the chosen ground of the Anishinabe.
(03:05:32) (Anonmouse) anishinable name leads to ltin for the lamb
(03:05:50) (Anonmouse) latin
(03:05:57) (Host-WalksInSpirit) You are to look for a turtle-shaped island that is linked to the purification of the earth. You will find such an island at the beginning and at the end of your journey. There will be seven stopping places along the way. You will know the chosen ground has been reached when you come to a land where food grows on water. If you do not move you will be destroyed."
(03:06:45) (Host-WalksInSpirit) The second prophet told the people, "You will know the Second Fire because at this time the nation will be camped by a large body of water. In this time the direction of the Sacred Shell will be lost. The Midewiwin will diminish in strength, a boy will be born to point the way back to the traditional ways. He will show the direction to the stepping stones to the future of the Anishinabe people."
(03:07:34) (ron) ilse of japan
(03:07:54) (Host-WalksInSpirit) The third prophet said to the people, "In the Third Fire, the Anishinabe will find the path to their chosen ground, a land in the west to which they must move their families. This will be the land where food grows on water."
(03:08:31) (Host-WalksInSpirit) The Fourth Fire was originally given to the people by two prophets. They come as one. They told of the coming of the Light Skinned race. One of the prophets said, "You will know the future of our people by the face the Light Skinned race wears. If they come wearing the face of brotherhood then there will come a time of wonderful change for generations to come.
