ron says: UNDERSTANDING THE UFO PHENOMENON By Gregory L. Little, Ed.D.
ron says: One of the most unusual conferences ever held at Virginia Beach is being hosted by the A.R.E., December 2-3, 2005. It is the result of increased public and media interest in the UFO phenomenon, as well as revived interest in those Edgar Cayce readings that specifically mentioned ancient visitations to Earth by extraterrestrials.
ron says: The conference includes several of the most influential figures in the study of UFOs (ufology) as well as Cayce-oriented speakers who have carefully evaluated Cayce's readings on the ancient world.
ron says: The most definitive Cayce reading on ancient visits to Earth by extraterrestrial beings was given in 1938 (1616-1): "Before this we find the entity was in the land now known as the Mexican and Yucatan land It was just before that period when those as from the east had come, and there were the beginnings of the unfoldments of the understanding that there were other portions of the same land, or those that were visiting from other worlds or planets."
ron says: The time frame and location of these visits by people "from other worlds or planets" is fairly narrow. It was in the Mayan (Yucatan) region, and it was after Christ's appearance in Palestine.
ron says: Another 1938 Cayce reading appears to strongly suggest ancient extraterrestrial visitations, but this time it took place in the AtIantean land, around 10,000 B.C. Incredibly, the reading implies that the warning given to the Atlantean priests about the impending destruction of Atlantis could have come from extraterrestrial sources.
ron says: Furthermore, the need to have the Atlantean records preserved in three locations also appears to have come from the same source:
ron says: "Before that we find the entity was in the Atlantean land.
ron says: "There we find the entity was very close to those in authority; being that one who was the keeper of the portals as well as the messages that were received from the visitation of those from the outer spheres, in the latter part of the entity's experience there.
ron says: "For it was the entity that received the message as to the needs for the dividing of the children of the Law of One for the preservation of the truths of same in other lands.
ron says: "Hence we find the entity was among those who were as the directors of those expeditions, or the leaving for the many varied lands just before the breaking up of the Atlantean land.
ron says: "Hence the entity outlined in the most part, it might be said, the expedition guided by Ax-Tell and the ones to the Pyrenees and to the Yucatan and to the land of Og." (1681-1)
ron says: Edgar Cayce also often related that there were elemental beings, which consisted of vibrations (similar to electrical energies). Under some conditions, these vibrational forces could manifest into physical forms.
ron says: During his youth, Cayce played with these physical beings, which he called fairies (294-128). In other readings (1298-1), he called elementals "the warp [vibrational] and woof [texture] of materiality."
ron says: Cayce mentioned brownies, pixies, fairies, and gnomes as examples of these materialized forms. These readings have strong similarities to many modern UFO abduction reports, and will be a topic addressed during the conference.
ron says: UFOLOGY - A SPECTRUM OF THEORIES
ron says: The field of ufology emerged not long after the modern wave of UFO reports appeared in 1947, two years after Cayce's death. So many UFO reports were made in America, that the government was forced to address the issue, especially since many reports came from military sources.
Qrious says: from ufo's to fairy tales.. a large leap.. normally speaking.
ron says: From 1947 through 1952, the U.S. Air Force investigated 2,344 UFO cases and classified about 17 percent as unidentified. In 1991, the Air Force issued regulation 190-1, which reported that over 12,500 cases had been officially investigated and that about 5 percent were unexplained.
ron says: In general, UFO investigators focus on the unexplained cases, which continue to pour in unabated to this day. Quite recently, the Brazilian government has officially released previously unknown documents, which validate both the government's involvement in UFO investigations and the finding that investigators have concluded that many of the cases are genuine and inexplicable in conventional terms.
ron says: Some prominent UFO investigators assert that a government conspiracy has been at the center of an ongoing cover-up, which seeks to hide the fact that the military has recovered the remains of crashed alien craft as well as the aliens inside these craft.
ron says: While many investigators have become certain that the unexplained UFO reports represent alien craft, others have come to very different conclusions. One interesting background to the modern UFO era is increasing understanding that similar reports have been made throughout all recorded history.
ron says: This has led to a fascinating range of ideas and theories about UFOs that incorporate spirituality, Native American lore, Earth energies, angels, and neurochemistry. The December 2005 conference will cover the entire spectrum of all these theories with many of the foremost investigators and theorists.
ron says: ANCIENT EXTRATERRESTRIAL VISITATION: HINTS IN THE CAYCE READINGS
ron says: There are no readings in which Cayce mentions UFO’s, aliens, flying saucers, or extraterrestrials. All of these terms came into common use after 1947, the year the modern flying saucer era began with a spectacular UFO report. Cayce died in 1945, before the UFO craze swept the world.
Qrious says: how about those vessels used for transportation during the Atlantean era.. ron.. like in the Cayce readings.. using quartz and being flat wafer like?
Qrious says: the crystal was the main sort of powersource of movement.
ron says: right Q...one would have to take the Atlantean flying machines into consideration...and are most likely depicted in ancient cultures, like for instance what is found in Central America
ron says: But the Cayce readings do contain a few interesting items that are related to life elsewhere in the universe and extraterrestrial visits to earth. First, however, we'll present a brief background of the modern era of UFOs, a simple historical overview, and Jung's perspective.
ron says: THE MODERN UFO ERA
ron says: On June 21, 1947, private pilot Kenneth Arnold was flying, his single engine plane near Mt. Rainier, in Washington State, searching for a downed Marine transport plane. Arnold was a respected businessman from Boise, Idaho, who represented a fire equipment company. He was an experienced pilot and often flew over the Cascade Mountains for business and pleasure.
ron says: At 3 p.m., after about an hour in flight, Arnold's attention was caught by several flashes of light in the distance. Searching the sky for the source, he spotted nine shiny, saucer-like discs "playing tag" with the mountain peaks. Arnold watched the objects for several minutes and estimated their speed at 1200 mph.
ron says: Arnold landed his plane in Oregon and was soon met by newsmen. His famous description of the objects - "They flew like a saucer would if you skipped it across the water"- was widely quoted, and the term FLYING SAUCER was born. During the remainder of 1947, the U.S. Air Force received 122 UFO reports. Between 1947 and the end of 1952, 2,344 UFO reports were made.
ron says: The U.S. government conducted or commissioned a series of investigations on the flying saucer phenomenon, with the results of these investigations widely criticized. The conclusions of these reports were consistent and are well summarized by a formal government statement. U.S. Air Force Regulation 190-1, issued in 1991, states:
ron says: "Project Blue Book, the Air Force study of UFOs, ended in 1969, after 22 years of scientific investigation. More than 12,500 reported sightings were investigated; the vast majority - about 95 percent - were explainable...Of the very few that remained unexplained, there was no indication of a technology beyond our own scientific knowledge, or that any sighting could be considered an extraterrestrial vehicle.
ron says: Most important, throughout Project Blue Book, there was never a shred of evidence to indicate a threat to our national security."
ron says: Despite the official statements, the UFO craze continues unabated to the present time, and a substantial portion of the UFO community believes that a government conspiracy is present. However, there is a long-term history to the phenomenon, stretching back into antiquity, which has been recognized by a host of investigators.
ron says: The modern phenomenon has evolved from enigmatic sightings of UFOs to people who claim to have been taken aboard saucers to the more ominous abductions involving the "grays" - the gray-colored humanoids who allegedly conduct body exams and experiments on unwilling abductees.
ron says: But the older tradition of UFO-like reports involves fairies, Native American "little people," and countless sightings of enigmatic objects in the sky. Many UFO investigators believe that the manifestations of the UFO phenomenon evolve with humanity.
ron says: ANCIENT UFO-LIKE REPORTS
true_eagle_mike says: right on ron
ron says: In 1959, Carl Jung's last book, FLYING SAUCERS, was released. Jung concluded that flying saucers and the pre-abduction-era "contactees" (individuals who claimed to have been taken aboard flying saucers by "space brothers") were modern manifestations of archetypal images and symbols.
ron says: Few people realize that Jung's ideas about archetypes evolved and changed over his long career. Initially, Jung believed that archetypal images were a storehouse of memories and important symbolic images that are transmitted from one generation to another through genetics. He felt that archetypes represented the common psychic heritage of humanity.
ron says: Few people realize that Jung's ideas about archetypes evolved and changed over his long career. Initially, Jung believed that archetypal images were a storehouse of memories and important symbolic images that are transmitted from one generation to another through genetics. He felt that archetypes represented the common psychic heritage of humanity.
ron says: Archetypes are, in essence, the products of the total learning and experience history of the human race. As his thinking evolved, Jung gradually backed away from the view that archetypes were simply important symbols transmitted from one generation's unconscious to the next through heredity.
true_eagle_mike says: aliens hav been here obseving us 4 thousands of years
ron says: Eventually, Jung came to see archetypes as independent, autonomous entities, which had probably existed for all time. In one of his final works (On THE NATURE OF THE PSYCHE, 1960), Jung made the astonishing statement that archetypes consist of pure nature (energy) and are "psychoid factors," existing invisibly on the ultraviolet end of the unconscious spectrum.
ron says: A psychoid factor is a process whereby psychological reality and objective reality is bridged. In brief, archetypes are pure energy forms which are normally unseen, since they "reside" in the invisible ultra Violet end of the electromagnetic energy spectrum.
ron says: At critical times, however, they can manifest into physical reality and be seen. Appearances of archetypes are "messages" from the spiritual world, and interestingly, this idea parallels what Cayce seemed to be saying in several readings.
ron says: In the very first paragraph of Flying Saucers, Jung laid the groundwork for this incredible assertion, and he also noted that the phenomenon stretched back into remote times. He related that archetypes, "or gods as they used to be called," make appearances at critical stages in history, especially when one Platonic Month transitions into the next.
ron says: The 26,000-year Precession of the Equinox (the Great Year) is divided into 12 Platonic Months (or Ages) of approximately 2150 years each. For example, the Age of Pisces began with the rise of Christianity. The transition into the Age of Aquarius began in the late 1900s, although few people agree on exact dates.
ron says: Jung apparently realized that few people would understand what he was saying, as he ended the first paragraph of the book with these stark words: "I undertake this thankless task in the expectation that my chisel will make no impression on the hard stone it meets."
ron says: Jung described various ancient, archetypal manifestations, including appearances by mythical beings, angels, and visible symbols, occurring at significant points in history. The simplest manifestations were elementals, like fairies and simple globes of light. More important manifestations were typified by the angels who appeared to Mary and key figures in Christianity.
ron says: More modern Marian apparitions were also cited by Jung as archetypal in nature. Other archetypal appearances occurred at critical turning points in history. For example, in A.D. 312, Constantine had a "vision" while he was marching against Galerius.
ron says: In the heavens, Constantine saw a huge, shining cross with an inscription under it: In Hoc Signo Vinces -"Under this sign conquer." After three decisive battles and victories, Constantine went to Milan and issued a decree, making Christianity the official religion of the empire. He specifically cited the vision as the cause of his conversion.
ron says: Jung was also the first, apparently, to find several illustrations of what appear to be UFO-like manifestations reported in ancient, nonreligious literature. He published a photo of the Nuremberg (Germany) broadsheet (dated April 14, 1651) and a photo of the Basel broadsheet (dated August 7, 1566), which he found in the Zurich library.
ron says: Broadsheets were woodcut illustrations with text that served as newspapers in that era. The sheets depict large, black, red, and blue globes in the sky with cylinder-like objects and crosses. Both cities were undergoing sieges at the time and were in a severe crisis.
ron says: In the late 1980s Greg Little reviewed a collection of about 1000 of the ancient broadsheets and found about a dozen more showing curious, UFO-like manifestations over Germany in the same time frame. Two of these were translated and describe enigmatic objects moving in the sky.
ron says: In the 1950s Harold Wilkins researched ancient writings for UFO-like reports and discovered many going back as far as 216 B.C. He included a flying shield (a disc) seen over Rome in 216 B.C. and a fleet of "ships" in the sky near Rome in 170 B.C.
ron says: Others have found what are interpreted as UFO-like objects in religious paintings, carvings from ancient Sumeria and Egypt, and rock carvings/paintings in various parts of the world. Several researchers have discovered a stunning similarity to UFO sightings and abduction reports in Native American lore.

ron says: ANCIENT INTERVENTION: ANCIENT ASTRONAUTS
ron says: The idea that the earth has had ancient visits from extraterrestrial beings exploded on the UFO scene in the early 1960s, after Dr. Yonah Aharon first made the claim in 1954. Paul Misraki and Brinsley Le Poer Trench each wrote several popular books, proposing what has become known as the ANCIENT ASTRONAUTS THEORY.
ron says: But the blockbuster book was CHARIOTS OF THE GODS?, published by Erich Von Daniken in 1968. Von Daniken visited ancient ruins throughout the world and saw "evidence" of ancient astronauts everywhere. Von Daniken produced a host of additional books examining the idea and remains active to this day.
ron says: Perhaps the first "scholarly" book on the ancient astronaut theory was Robert G. Temple's 1976 book, THE SIRIUS MYSTERY. Temple examined the core religious beliefs of Africa's Dogon tribe and found that they held secret - and somewhat accurate - knowledge about the star system Sirius, which was unknown until modem times.
ron says: Temple concluded that sometime around 4500 B.C., spaceships arrived from planets in the Sirius system and landed in Samaria. The aliens were seen as gods to the primitive inhabitants in the area, and the sudden rise of civilization in Samaria was caused by this event.
ron says: Working from different Sumerian sources (cuneiform tablets he retranslated), Zechariah Sitchin also concluded that extraterrestrials arrived in Samaria about 6000 years ago. But Sitchin believes that these visitors came from an unknown planet in our solar system called Nibiru.
ron says: CAYCE READINGS: SOJOURNS, ATLANTEAN CRAFT, AND ESTRATERRESTRIAL VISITORS SOJOURNS
Qrious says: the Dog Star thing huh.
ron says: The Cayce readings do contain mentions of "extraterrestrial" visitations to earth in ancient times and present the idea that life is elsewhere in the universe, but interpreting these readings is more complicated than it might seem. The readings relate that souls have sojourns on other planets as part of a necessary progression of experience.
ron says: These sojourns - especially those on other planets - are not really in a physical form as we understand it. They are spiritual experiences in which Cayce describes the manifestation of the soul on a particular planet as adapted to the environment and conditions of that planet.
ron says: These soul manifestations are sometimes described as somewhat physical as well as occasionally in spirit or consciousness alone. For example, in a 1934 reading (541-1) Cayce stated:
ron says: "Not that Venus, Jupiter, Mars, Uranus or any of the planets about this earth's sun have beings or bodies such as are known in the earth's sojourns; but those that are peculiar to their own realm - their own element or position from the solar light, or the light and heat."
ron says: Another 1934 reading (630-2) relates a similar message: "We find Jupiter, then, as the greater ruling force; or the entity's sojourn in that environ. Not as a physical body as known in the earth, but as a body adaptable to the environs of Jupiter; for there's life there (not as known in earth), as there is in Saturn, Sun, Moon, Venus, Mercury, Uranus, Neptune, Mars; all have their form -
ron says: as about the earth, the inhabitants of the air, fire, water - in and out of the earth. The elements about same are inhabited, if you choose, by those of their own peculiar environment."
ron says: Several Cayce readings describe dwellers on the moon, but these also appear to be descriptions of individuals' sojourns. In a 1933 reading (264-31) Cayce related: "As it has been often presented by one school of thought, the dwellers upon the Moon (the satellite of the earth) preceded the abilities for matter (expressed in a form that is known as matter in the earth). And this entity was among those that so dwelt, and is influenced by two sojourns there."
ron says: Carefully reviewing this reading, it appears that Cayce's statement that the dwellers on the moon "preceded the abilities for matter" means that the form the souls took on the moon was nonphysical and was a preparation for a later physical incarnation on earth. A 1936 reading (826-8) explained this further:
ron says: "It is not that a soul AS a body is in an environment that it lives upon a planet as one does in the earth, but that the consciousness which is befitting to the environ of the planet is in that environ, see?"
ron says: The question of whether or not human-like life exists on the planets of our solar system was directly answered in this Cayce reading (826-8): "(Q) Upon what planets other than the earth does human life exist? (A) None as human life in the earth."
ron says: ATLANTEAN CRAFT
ron says: One other type of reading has complicated an assessment of Cayce's possible hints of extraterrestrial visitation. Several writers have interpreted a few of the Cayce readings that describe the airships of the Atlanteans as alien craft. In a 1939 reading (1859-1), Cayce related to a man that one of his past incarnations was
ron says: "in the Atlantean land, during those periods particularly when there was the exodus from Atlantis owing to the foretelling or foreordination of those activities which were bringing about the reference to the final destruction of Atlantis, which took place sometime around 10,000 B.C.
ron says: The sleeping Cayce went on to tell the man that he was one of the people who fled the destruction to the Yucatan, the Pyrenees, and Egypt. Cayce continued, "For the manners of transportation, the manners of communications through the airships of that period were such as Ezekiel described of a much later date."
Qrious says: such as Ezekiel.. thats funny lookin.
ron says: The book of Ezekiel (circa 600 B.C.) describes what many UFO writers have interpreted as a flying saucer: "And I looked, and behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the color of amber, out of the midst of the fire...and their rings were full of eyes round about them four. And when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up."
ron says: As related in our books and articles in Ancient Mysteries, the Cayce readings explain that the Atlanteans used hot air balloons and dirigible-like aircraft for transportation. Thus, while some believe that this reading may refer to an alien craft, it seems likely Cayce was referring to something similar to an Atlantean airship.
Qrious says: the word amber in Hebrew translates as highly polished bronze.
ron says: Could the ship be alien in origin, especially because what Ezekiel described was seen over 9000 years after Atlantis was destroyed? Perhaps, yes. It doesn't seem likely that such a craft, if built by humans in 600 B.C.-individuals who retained knowledge of Atlantean technology-would have escaped notice by others. But there seems to be no other information in the readings to make a further evaluation.
ron says: EXTRATERRESTRIAL VISITORS
ron says: The most definitive Cayce reading on ancient visits to earth by extraterrestrial beings was given in 1938 (1616-1):" Before this we find the entity was in the land now known as the Mexican and Yucatan land...It was just before that period when those as from the east had come, and there were the beginnings of the unfoldments of the understanding that there were other portions of the same land, or those that were visiting from other worlds or planets."
ron says: The reading goes on to describe how human sacrifice had developed, and it was causing torment. The time frame and location of these apparent visits by people "from other worlds or planets" is fairly narrow. It was in the Mayan (Yucatan) region, and it was after Christ's appearance in Palestine.
ron says: The time frame becomes clear in a later portion of the reading: "Before that we find the entity was in the earth during the days when the Master walked in the earth, and in and about those portions where there were the journeyings of the Master into strange lands - or out of the Palestine or Galilean land."
Qrious says: hmm.. from what I understood.. it was a misunderstanding of the sacrafices to copy that done by the Hebrews..
ron says: One other 1938 Cayce reading (1681-1) appears to strongly suggest ancient extraterrestrial visitations, but this time it took place in the Atlantean land, around 10,000 B.C. Incredibly, the reading could mean that the warning given to the Atlantean priests about the impending destruction of Atlantis could have come from extraterrestrial sources.
ron says: Furthermore, the need to have the Atlantean records preserved in three locations also appears to have come from the same source:
ron says: "Before that we find the entity was in the Atlantean land.
ron says: "There we find the entity was very close to those in authority; being that one who was the keeper of the portals as well as the messages that were received from the visitation of those from the outer spheres, in the latter part of the entity's experience there.

As his thinking evolved, Jung gradually backed away from the view that archetypes were simply important symbols transmitted from one generation's unconscious to the next through heredity.

ron says: Eventually, Jung came to see archetypes as independent, autonomous entities, which had probably existed for all time.

Incredibly, the reading could mean that the warning given to the Atlantean priests about the impending destruction of Atlantis could have come from extraterrestrial sources.
ron says: Furthermore, the need to have the Atlantean records preserved in three locations also appears to have come from the same source:
ron says: "Before that we find the entity was in the Atlantean land.
ron says: "There we find the entity was very close to those in authority; being that one who was the keeper of the portals as well as the messages that were received from the visitation of those from the outer spheres, in the latter part of the entity's experience there.
ron says: "For it was the entity that received the message as to the needs for the dividing of the children of the Law of One for the preservation of the truths of same in other lands.
ron says: "Hence we find the entity was among those who were as the directors of those expeditions, or the leaving for the many varied lands just before the breaking up of the Atlantean land.
ron says: "Hence the entity outlined in the most part, it might be said, the expedition guided by Ax-Tell and the ones to the Pyrenees and to the Yucatan and to the land of Og."
ron says: The most definitive Cayce reading on ancient visits to Earth by extraterrestrial beings was given in 1938 (1616-1): "Before this we find the entity was in the land now known as the Mexican and Yucatan land It was just before that period when those as from the east had come, and there were the beginnings of the unfoldments of the understanding that there were other portions of the same land, or those that were visiting from other worlds or planets."
