I had the unusual experience to work for Mr. Atkins as security during a free concert he gave. My usual job is to catch shop lifters so this was a special treat for me! I had heard his new song, "If You're Going Through Hell" just a few days prior and I loved it! If you have read much about this board or know me at all I believe there are no accidents so I believe this event was meant to be for me.
I have to say I found Mr. Atkins to be a sweet, and genuine down home kind of guy that you would like to be a neighbor to. I pray the music business does not spoil that. You all know my Sweetie is a musician and I thank God he has never caved to the pitfalls waiting out there for a good looking man with talent!
Rodney if this by chance ever reaches you and you have the heart to listen, take some advice from "security". Take your gift as far as it will go, but leave the trash behind, you know the pitfalls I mean. You are looking at them every single day. Keep your wife and kids, stay faithful. I cannot believe the women there that were like vultures. (I have another word for them but this board might be visited by kids so I try to keep it clean.) If it had been my place to do so I would have given them a drop kick on general principle for your wife and kids!
For all you good honest folk out there that like country give Rodney a listen, he is going places! Move over Tim McGraw, here comes Rodney Atkins!
Rodney, thanks for bringing solid values and good manners to your show. I hope you never outgrow them. God Bless!
