"The Kidneys, Part II"
(08:28:01) (Nick) OK, time for the kidneys Part II
(08:29:16) (Nick) For best health for your kidneys, a vegetarian diet is suggested. This minimizes the production of urea which is what ages and taxes the kidneys, leading to increasing acidity of the blood.
(08:30:36) (Nick) Urea if present to excess, can decomposed into ammonium carbonate, which can start a condition of chronic mild bloodpoisoning.
(08:31:20) (Raleigh) nick
(08:31:30) (Raleigh) what is urea pls
(08:31:57) (Nick) Excess protein consumption is usually the cause of renal insufficiency. Neither human kidneys nor human intestines were meant to digest meats and heavy proteins.
(08:33:22) (WalksInSpirit) Urea: [n] the chief solid component of mammalian urine; synthesized from ammonia and carbon dioxide and used as fertilizer and in animal feed and in plastics
(08:34:43) (Nick) Urea i sofrmed from the breakdown of proteins which are aminoacids. It is a formaldehyde molecule, in which the two hydrogens have been replaed by two amine groups (O=C=(H2N)2
(08:37:23) (Nick) It is enzymes which perform this breakdown. And these enzymes need to be produced by the liver. If however, the liver spends all its time synthesizing enzymes to breakdown one's baby back pork ribs and bacon rinds, no energy is left for repairing one's brain cells, hair, and teeth.
(08:41:13) (Nick) The end cause of kidney abuse is uremia, this is when the kidneys have burnt themselves out trying to eliminate the acidic wastes, whether due to poor nutrition, a malfunctioning liver, a kidney infection or chronic infection.
(08:42:30) (Nick) Dogs for example can eliminate 13 grams per liter of urea in their urine. In a human 1 gram per liter is a life threatening toxic condition.
(08:43:54) (Nick) Among the vegetarian foods which can harm the kidneys only honey and tomatos can reach sufficient acidity to cause any distress.
(08:44:20) (Atom) urea is an acid?
(08:44:40) (WalksInSpirit) Urea: [n] the chief solid component of mammalian urine; synthesized from ammonia and carbon dioxide and used as fertilizer and in animal feed and in plastics
(08:45:39) (Nick) Urea is more a ketone, like acetone. It ressembles formaldehyde, except that it has two amine (-NH2) groups instead of two hydrogens attached to the carboxyl carbon.
(08:45:43) (Bill) the reason for useing it in animal feed is to recycle the antibiotics
(08:46:33) (Nick) Urea is used in animal feed? Sheesh, what treason will yhe food industry dream up next! :oO
(08:47:10) (Roz) it is also a fertilizer in itself
(08:47:47) (WalksInSpirit) The medicine Premarin that many women take for hormine replacement therapy is pregnant mare urine. Pre-mar-ine.
(08:48:25) (Nick) This aspect o the kidneys needs to be appreciated, since it implies that we were not meant to be carnivores. When healthy one may be able to tolerate some acording to blood type/nutrition/digestion, but in the long term it will lead to an acidic condition.
(08:50:23) (Nick) This aspect o the human kidneys not being made ofr a carnivorous diet is reflected in the 25 foot length of the human intestines. Far too long to alow day to day fermentation of dead carcasses. :oP
(08:51:13) (Nick) OK have we any questions, suggestions or questions I may have missed? :o)
(08:51:43) (Cheryl) How about cheese? such as cottage cheese? Nick?
(08:52:23) (Nick) Aaaaaaahhhhhhh..................*expires from the thought* (being a cheese lover) :o)
(08:54:12) (merlin) hey nick, what about macrobiotics?
(08:54:22) (Nick) The metabolism of fats also affects the kidneys, since fats can accumulate and form atherosclerotic deposits on the kidneys arteries and veins, as well as forming deposists inside the tubules of the kidneys. They are not as serious believe it or not as the protein wastes.
(08:55:41) (Nick) Yoghurt protein, and soft cheese protein do not seem to cause nearly as many acidity problems as meat proteins and even some types of beans when improperly cooked.
(08:56:51) (Nick) The reason for this is that the oils and fats are more volatile and can be excreted via the res[piration and the skin, as well as the kidneys.
(08:57:50) (Nick) Rememebr that one needs to adapt slowly to the changes one makes in one's diet. Although, removing pork and other red meats can help lots.
(08:58:59) (Raleigh) 20m percent acid food is good / this is meats is it not ?
(08:59:55) (Raleigh) more than 20 for us hyper types nick
(09:00:19) (Nick) Not really, Raleigh. Because grains would be considered borderline acidic food. They do however provide a lot of fibre and B vitamins for the system, as well as energy food which does not tax the eliminations.
(09:01:58) (Nick) To get into the whole diet at this point would be overstretching the topic. However, the key here is reducing the acidity of the blood and saving your kidneys from torment.
(09:05:07) (Nick) The kidneys are capable of performing 6 - 8 times the work for which they were designed but even they have their limits. Our modern diets:carbonated drinks, cold drinks, ice all these things start to overwork the kidneys. Which is why fasting is so helpful. It allows the body to stop making wastes and start eliminating accumulations.
(09:07:06) (Nick) merlin had asked about the macrobiotic diet emphasizing whole grains. This is good if well chewed, and allowing the salive and its enzymes to mix with the food. The value of carbohydrates is that they give energy and their only wastes to be eliminated, (ideally) are CO2 and water.
(09:10:03) (Roz) how about allergy to msg Nick
(09:11:02) (Nick) Monosodium glutamate is a nutritional travesty, and being allergic to it might actually be healthy for you in the long run. :o)
(09:13:24) (Roz) why is it in everything Nick?
(09:13:34) (Nick) OK has anyone any questions?
(09:14:29) (Nick) Oops, monosodium glutamate is a chemical which tastes somewhat sweet but also stimulates the hunger urge in the body. It is designed to make you overeat and get fat. :oP
(09:14:38) (Cheryl) Yes, Nick. I am reading a book on Alkalize or Die by Dr. Ted Baroody. He, too, states to chew the food well for it to mix with the saliva before swallowing & without added water to wash it down as in half-eaten.
(09:15:37) (Nick) Good book, the Alkalinize or Die, a bit fire and brimston perhaps, :o)
(09:16:39) (Cheryl) Cravings?? I craved sour things with both my kids when I was carrying them. Lemons with the 1st & green mangos with my 2nd... Hmm? Why do pregnant women crave sour foods? Nick?
(09:16:53) (Nick) One of the best things it has is a chart of general food combinations. I think I gave my copy away to someone...
(09:17:55) (Nick) Sour, especialy lemons alkalinizes the blood. remember when you are preganat you are building and eliminating for two, or even more! :o)
(09:18:56) (Cheryl) But doesn;t the acicity of citrus makes the body acidic also? Nick?
(09:20:32) (Nick) The citrus fruits are very alkalinizing and cleansing, but only if eaten with other fruits and not the dried ones. This is because they are loaded with simple sugars and enzymes as well as minerals and vitamins. The fruit trees make these fruits for us to enjoy so we plant their seeds and care for them. :o)
(09:20:50) (merlin) also don'tdrink citrus when eating cold cereal.
(09:21:59) (Nick) Yes, the speed of digestion of citrus fruits is very fast. So if eaten with complex carbohydrates like whole grains the sugars can ferment in the stomach while the whole grains are being digested.
(09:22:28) (merlin) grapefruit, orange ,and lemon .........are there any others nick?
(09:22:56) (Roz) lime, tangerine, tangelos
(09:23:01) (merlin) AH! limes
(09:24:43) (merlin) limeys........english seamen for scurvy
(09:24:46) (ernie) www.edgarcayce.org/th/tharchiv/research/ph/diet.pdf
(09:24:58) (Nick) Those mostly, in some tropical areas you get other fruits, but it is best to treat them as non-berry semi-sweet fruits.
(09:25:58) (ernie) its a cool page lots of info
