;DI got up this morning with every intention of posting about the latest book I have read. After reading email and having a cup of brew I saw that it was time to meditate. So after my meditation and a post about meditation, little whole wheat toast and honey I was contemplating my first book review. Looking over the boards I realized I needed a special board for this. I've got all my posts sort of mixed up in here and I am feeling the Virgo need to organize. My big Sweetie made a special board for books! He is a doll I can tell you. I hope those of you who traverse these pages will come back and post someday, share your books or anything else that you have found to be helpful on the good Red Road!
I have a special love for books. It turns out that most of the people who are drawn to the Cayce readings do. If you could just see the books I have given away, the books in the book cases, the ones stacked because there is no room for them in the book cases you might get the idea. There is no limit to the topics, but I must say I have a LOT of books written by the people associated with the ARE.
I can remember as a child when I first found a book that spoke to me, it was WHITE FANG, and THE CALL OF THE WILD by Jack London. I can remember standing in the library at school in one of those frozen moments that will stay with you forever. It was like I had found a deeper part of me and I was connecting to it for the first time. You cherish moments like those forever. Maybe it was because I had found a way to escape my difficult life, or had linked to a way to find truth. I don't know. I just know from that time on books would hold a special place in my life. The next set of books that I found that seem to have transformed me were the Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis. Again, that familiar tone of truth and deeper connection. The realization that something was calling me. The next huge leap was the The Edgar Cayce Collection. The books and people who have influenced me are much longer than this list. The result is that I am a keeper of books like they are long lost friends. I don't even have to read it, just have it near me, in case someday I might read it! Or give it away in Love to the person it was meant to go to. Thank God for Half Price book stores!
So, read my posts on books, or links to free e books. Post with me or not. You are most welcome to. Email me if there is a book that has changed your life and you just want to share.
Old longings nomadic leap,
Chafing at custom's chain;
Again from its brumal sleep
Wakens the ferine strain.
Jack London
