I got an email to day that kind of stunned me. A friend I know from the net emailed me and told me that I had somehow helped him to not commit suicide. Now I know I did not do anything special. I just post all the helpful stuff I can find here on the boards and hope that who ever needs it finds it. You will notice the quote from the reading below all my posts. That is what we call an ideal and an affirmation. "Let love, life, and hope be the motivating forces in my thoughts day by day." This is an ideal I aspire to, can't pretend I always succeed!
My own brother committed suicide. Ray was a beautiful human being. I can not pretend to understand why his life was the way it was. The doctors called it a chemical imbalance. But that was a symptom of a deeper spiritual issue. Not the cause. I am at peace with my brother's choice, and I believe he is too. That does not mean I condone suicide, that means I have accepted that which I cannot change. I know my brother exists in another plane and is getting what he needs from God.
I spend a lot of time looking for things to post that will help people, and I sometimes wonder if it is doing any good. So I prayed about it and asked God if I was helping. Then I get this email. What a wonderful affirmation that even here on the net you can find a way to serve and help. That is the whole purpose for this page and for our existence on this earth. To serve, because nothing will bring you closer to God, than serving your brother or sister.
What ever it is your hands find to do today to help someone, even if it's just a smile from the heart, do it. You never know what life you will save, what hope you will inspire, what pain you will relieve. Remember, when you are looking into the eyes of your brother, no matter what condition you find them in, you are looking into the eyes of the God who loves you.
"Nothing grows, nothing remains alone unless dead. A mind, a body that sits alone and considers the outside and never turning that within to the out, nor that without from within, soon finds drosses setting up in the system; for development is change. Change is the activity of knowledge from within. Learn to live! Then there is no death, save the transition, when desired.
