Saint Francis Home for Lakota Children
A Franciscan nun, Sister Geraldine Clifford, who is Lakota herself and grew up on Pine Ridge, runs Saint Francis Home for Lakota Children.
Sister Clifford started the home in 1981 and takes in children who have been neglected and/or abused. She provides a safe haven for them in a warm, loving atmosphere. There typically 6 to 8 children in residence at at any given time.
Saint Francis Home for Lakota Children is a nonprofit organization, with 501(c)(3) tax ID status
Donation suggestions:
Children's books
Cleaning supplies
Craft supplies
Linens for twin sized beds
New or gently used clothing
New socks, underwear
Nonperishables or monetary donations for food
Paper products - paper towels, toilet paper, etc.
School supplies
Shoes
Toiletries and hair accessories
Towels
Toys, stuffed animals and dolls
FoPRR cannot verify delivery of your boxes. When shipping your donations via U.S. Mail, please purchase delivery confirmation, or use your shipping service's tracking system.
Do not use Styrofoam for packing materials. New large size trash bags serve well as padding and are reusable.
Remember, if you are sending anything liquid please double wrap it and seal well in a plastic bag.
