It's me, Kee checking in, and I'm hotter than a prairy fire. Apologies I had not checked back, been so dug in on environmental and sovereign issues that I lost track of time.
There's a battle going on in the Black Hills of South Dakota, as yet more mining corporations have begun drilling new test holes for Uranium. The toxic waste lands and waters that were left behind from the last round of Uranium mining have not been cleaned up yet (as if you can clean up radio active materials that have shelf life's of million years.)
The Cheyenne River has signs posted on them now "RADIO ACTIVE - KEEP OUT." Charmaine White Face of the Defenders of the Black Hills told me that a huge portion of the Cheyenne river and surrounding area is now officially dead.
Extraction of coal bed methane is also ruining water resources. This type of coal bed methane mining is toxic and in some cases causes seismic slippage, as is on record in the Raton Basin of Southern Colorado and New Mexico.
There is another concern here in the mid-west with all the Ethanol Plants popping up all over the place. These plants use vast quantities of water from our aquifers and huge supplies of corn. The corn alone is driving up corn prices in third world countries such as Mexico as these Ethanol plants drive the price of corn up, as to eventually make it an unaffordable commodity. The farmers wanting to plant corn from last years seed are running into problems with corn not growing thanks to genetically altered corn that won't reproduce.
So, that is just a few of the issues I've been working with the people on. There are lots of court battles and bureaucratic red tape to wade through.
I'm going to post another issue after this one. I feel it deserves some thought and contemplation.
Many Blessings of Peace and Hope be to you,
Prairy
