(02:39:27) (Host-WalksInSpirit) The most marked example of Atlantean culture, as super imposed upon that of an intelligent but less advanced earlier population, is found in Mexico, on the peninsula of Yucatan. Much archeological work had been done there in the past, and is continuing in the present, with the hope of eventually solving the mystery of the Mayas, whose Golden Age was, in its way, comparable to that of Greece.

With the second and third upheavals in Atlantis,

But, understand, the surface was quite different from that which would be viewed in the present. (02:42:49) (Host-WalksInSpirit) According to the Troana Manuscripts, the peninsula of Yucatan was anciently known as Mayax. This included the entire empire of the Mayas, from the isthmus of Darien to the south, to the Tehuantepec country to the north.

(02:43:37) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Since both lost continents, Mu and Atlantis, had set up colonies in other parts of the then known world prior to their final catastrophes, an extensive mixing of peoples was to have been expected, and so it seems to have come about in Yucatan.

(02:44:45) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Reading 5750-1, tells us that continuing archeological research in that area will uncover secrets long hidden by jungle growth and will reveal the combination of cultures.

(02:45:39) (Host-WalksInSpirit) The Cayce Readings refer to great ruins that lie beneath the buildings of Mexico City, and speculated that they would probably never be seen by people of this era. In Yucatan, they said, ruins that partake of the Egyptian, Lemurians and Oz civilizations, as well as those of a later Mosaic influence, were to be found.

(02:46:26) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Asked what specific thing might be designated as being a portion of the varied civilizations - one thing in common - Mr. Cayce gave an esoteric explanation, more mystifying that clarifying to the average reader, but exceedingly interesting.

(02:46:53) (Host-WalksInSpirit) “The stones that are circular, that were of the magnetized influence upon which the Spirit of the One spoke to those peoples as they gathered in their service, are of the earliest Atlantean activities in religious service, we would be called today. The altars upon which there were the cleansings of the bodies of individuals (not human sacrifice; for this came much later with the injection of the Mosaic, and those activities of that area),

(02:47:55) (Host-WalksInSpirit) The pyramid, the altars before the doors of the varied temple activities, was an injection from the people of Oz and Mu; and will be found to be separate portions, and that referred to in the Scripture as high places of family altars, family gods, that in many portions of the world became again the injection into the activities of groups in various portions,

(02:48:42) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Edward Herbert Thompson, who was United States consul in Yucatan for 24 years, was a prominent supporter of the theory of Atlantean occupation. Very much interested in archeology, he spent the greater part of is time exploring and recording the numerous ruins of the Yucatan peninsula. He was convinced that the Mayas were immigrants from the submerged cotenant Atlantis.

(02:49:15) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Unlike the modern Mayas, the Pre-Mayas or Early Mayas left no documentary sources and only fragmentary traditions of their first history. From what is known, they were apparently a simple peace-loving, religious people, worshipers of the One God. Although they had a number of lesser gods, called Bacabs, their supreme Deity and creator of the world was a god named Hunab Ku, meaning One God.

(02:49:53) (Host-WalksInSpirit) One of Thompson's many interesting archeological "finds" was the great stone monolith, banded with hieroglyphs, that nearly cost him his life. A helper had discovered a half-buried "talking stone" and Thompson set out with the Indian to see it for himself. He was already burning with a jungle fever that intensified as he helped dig the circular monolith from the earth under which it had lain for centuries.

(02:50:24) (Host-WalksInSpirit) They had succeeded in freeing it from its earthly bonds; had restored a broken section to the sturdily implanted base and Thompson had verified the find by photographing his helper beside the monolith, when his illness overcame him. Blinded and delirious, he was led back to headquarters.

(02:50:42) (Host-WalksInSpirit) The place of the treasure was left unmarked and after many years had not been re-discovered, though the hieroglyphs may have held the key to Mayan history that Thompson had hoped to find.

(02:51:08) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Maya (Maya is a word found in many countries, connotes wisdom and power.) writing inscribed on monuments has been found to record great events in the lives of ancient rulers, but a reliable key to these stone writings has been difficult to establish, since no true alphabet of the Mayas has been determined.

(02:51:54) (Host-WalksInSpirit) W. Scott-Elliot declares that the Mayas, like the early sea-going Phoenicians, had a phonetic alphabet, and LePlongeon, and authority on this subject, wrote that one-third of the Maya tongue was pure Greek.

(02:52:14) (Host-WalksInSpirit) He had, he said, found thirteen letters of the Maya writings that bore a relationship to Egyptian hieroglyphic signs for the same letters. The Middle American writings systems generally used symbols to convey meanings, though some symbols indicated separate syllables.

(02:53:19) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Legends spot-lighting the great culture-bringer Quetzalcoatl, seem to substantiate Thompson's theory that Yucatan had been settled at some ancient time by survivors, or colonists, who came from Atlantis.

(02:53:48) (Host-WalksInSpirit) One story of this powerful individual has Quetzalcoatl coming out of the east in a gleaming ship made of serpent skins - conceivably an Atlantean metal completely unknown to the aboriginal Indians of the peninsula.

(02:54:09) (Host-WalksInSpirit) According to Mayan tradition, this craft came swiftly toward the land at the mouth of what is now known as the Panucho River in the State of Tamaulipas and from it came white-skinned people with fair hair, blue eyes, and flowing beards.

(02:54:33) (Host-WalksInSpirit) The natives were deeply impressed because the strangers wore on their heads emblems that looked to them like entwined serpents. The nations worshiped the Sacred Serpent; therefore they thought these tall white men were gods who had come to teach and guide them.

(02:54:58) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Tamoanchan - "The Place Where The People of The Serpent Landed" - is near Tuxpan in the Tampico district, according to Thompson.

(02:55:20) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Most famous as Quetzalcoatl, this legendary figure was known by other names as well. He was Kukulcan in the Maya language, Huitzilopochtli in the later Aztec period and Quetzalcoatl in the early Nahua period.

(02:55:49) (Host-WalksInSpirit) He is sometimes pictured as wearing conical hat of ocelot skin, a necklace of seashells, anklets, rattles, and sea foam sandals. He was much larger in frame than the Indians whom he reigned as a culture-hero and a god of learning.

(02:56:10) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Supposedly he was of a compassionate nature, who "could not kill a bear of pick a flower" and was much attached to the Toltecs who were his devoted followers. He taught a religion of love that eventually became corrupted.

(02:56:25) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Harold P. Wilkins was of the opinion that Quetzalcoatl was one of the "men in black" who were pioneer missionaries from the Old Atlantean empire of Hy-Brazil.

(02:56:41) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Perhaps, among other names by which the culture-hero, Quetzalcoatl, was known, was that of the Atlantean Iltar, who brought with him to Yucatan much of the Atlantean technology and who supervised the building of the temples and pyramids whose ruins still amaze and baffle modern viewers.

(02:57:10) (Host-WalksInSpirit) According to Maya tradition there was first the arrival of a few people from the sinking islands, then the arrival of many.

(02:57:25) (Host-WalksInSpirit) One story tells that Quetzalcoatl was many times called back to the land in the east, returning from these journeys with books and art treasures, which he had hid away in secret places, and that during one visit he saw a great building that reached to the skies and held many people speaking different languages.

(02:57:47) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Eventually, the stories say, the great man left Yucatan promising to return at a later date. This tale led to the downfall of the Aztecs, who saw in the arrival of fair-skinned men of the Spanish Conquest a return of the wise and compassionate Quetzalcoatl.

(02:58:42) (Host-WalksInSpirit) When asked about the temples and pyramids of Iltar Mr. Cayce answered that their construction was made possible by means of a power known to the Atlanteans.

(02:59:01) (Host-WalksInSpirit) “By the lifting forces of those gases that are being used gradually in the present civilization, and by the fine work or activities of those versed in that pertaining to the source from which all power comes… For, as long as there remains those pure in body, in mind, in activity, to the law of the One God,

(02:59:33) (Host-WalksInSpirit) When asked about the discovery of these ancient works of Iltar the readings gave the following information:

(02:59:52) (Host-WalksInSpirit) “The first temples that were erected by Iltar and his followers were destroyed at the period of change physically in the contours of the land. That now being found, and a portion already discovered that has laid in waste for many centuries, was then a combination of those peoples from Mu, Oz and Atlantis.”- Edgar Cayce Reading 5750-1

(03:00:18) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Ian Graham, a British archeologist, is presently heading a jungle search for ancient stones and wall sections, that may reveal through their carvings, some of the secrets of the past. It is his plan to make a photographic collection of Mayan inscriptions for the use for cryptographers.

(03:00:37) (Host-WalksInSpirit) In his opinion, the writings so far discovered do not show either Asiatic or European influence, thus lending further strength to the readings claim that the basis of the Mayan culture was Atlantean.

(03:00:56) (Host-WalksInSpirit) The Mayan ideographs resemble those of the Chinese in that a basic ideograph can be modified in meaning by the addition of an affix.

(03:01:11) (Host-WalksInSpirit) This detailed study would not have been necessary had the Spanish priest, Bishop Landa, restrained his impulse to burn the extensive bark fiber books of the Maya, after the final conquest of the people.

(03:01:31) (Host-WalksInSpirit) Since writing in the early Americas was rudimentary with the exception of the Mayan, the breaking of the code is especially important and may throw light on Toltec and Aztec cultures as well as the Mayan.

(03:01:48) (Host-WalksInSpirit) One scholar, Irene Nicholson, says that Quetzalcoatl was sometimes identified with Itzamna, the Maya god-above-all, who invented writing and was also credited with giving the Mayas maze and cocoa.

That there were such creatures in the Americas in ancient times is proved by the discovery near Naco Arizona, in 1952, of 10,000-year-old bones of a glacial period mammoth.
